Description | | The Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building is proposing several modifications and expansions to the waterfront component of the newly remodeled and expanded campus. This waterfront proposal will include a public dock, gangway, public access boardwalk with observation platform, a mooring field and pump-out station. The proposal also includes the insertion of a concrete deadman to serve as a stabilization device for the buildings, removal of approximately 300-cubic yards of fill material and sea wall located between the two buildings, replacement of 78 creosote pilings with concrete pilings and restoration of the existing pier. The applicant proposes a 9-helical anchor screw mooring field, which encompasses a four (4) acre area located adjacent to the school facility. The pump-out station will allow use by vessels too large to access the Hadlock Marina facilities. The applicant is required to obtain the following permits:
-Shoreline Substantial Development Conditional Use Permit - Jefferson County
- Use Authorization Permit - Washington State DNR
- Hydraulic Project Approval - Washington State Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
- 401 Water Quality Certification- Washington State Dept. of Ecology
- Section 10 Permit- US Army Corps of Engineers
The Shoreline Permit is a Type III permit requiring public notice and a public hearing. The applicant has submitted detailed site plans and a biological evaluation for the proposal. State Environmental Review (SEPA) is required with the optional DNS process being used.
