Description | | Shoreline substantial development application for an "after-the-fact" permit to anchor a 135-foot by 35-foot barge in Hood Canal during the Hood Canal Bridge closure. The barge was placed in Hood Canal for 30 days from May 7 through June 6, 2009. Lines were used to anchor the barge in the water and to attach it to an existing timber wingwall. The barge was used as a temporary breakwater to reduce wave action for public safety at the South Point Passenger-Only Ferry (POF) facility.
The proposal is subject to the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), as the SEPA lead agency, issued a Determination of Non-significance (DNS) and Adoption of Existing Environmental Document on June 2, 2002 for the Hood Canal Bridge retrofit and replacement project, which included the temporary South Point POF operations.
