A critical area review (CAR00-00542) was conducted in conjunction with the manufactured home replacement permit (BLD00-00803) and finaled on December 21, 2000. Documentation was provided by Ralph Ericksen of Consultants NW stating that the FEMA map #530069 0170B identifies the parcel as primarily in Zone C, which is not considered to be a flood hazard area. However, the area along the creek is in Zone A, which is defined as "Areas of 100 year flood; base flood elevations and flood hazard factors not determined". The ground in the area tends to be quite wet from fall to spring and the creek swells considerable during heavy rain or snow melt. A flood area certificate was not required as development is a substantial distance from this area.

F-Aquifer Recharge Area
Wording
| | |
Aquifer Recharge Areas in Jefferson County are characterized by porous geological formations that allow percolation of the surface water into the soils and the underlying zone of saturation. Aquifers are geologic formations that contain sufficient saturated permeable material to yield significant quantities of water to wells and springs. Aquifers serve as the source of drinking water within most of the rural portions of Jefferson County.
